Absalom Bobo, PVT

Pension Application: R980 The following information is from the pension application of Absalom Bobo unless otherwise noted.

PatriotAbsalom Bobo was born about 1754 in Albemarle County, Virginia. He was drafted in February or March of 1781 and first mustered at Blackstocks (View Map) in modern day Union County. Absalom served as a private in Captain George Roebuck‘s company of Colonel Benjamin Roebuck‘s battalion of the Spartan Militia.

Colonel John Thomas, Sr.

PatriotJohn Thomas, Sr., was born May 4, 1718 (or April 5, 1720) in Cardiff, Wales. Shortly after his birth, his family immigrated to Chester County, Pennsylvania where he spent his childhood. Although raised Episcopalian, in 1740 he married Jane Black, a spirited young lady and zealous Presbyterian.
